Sometimes having a giant cat as a friend can be interesting. It is really worth looking at both films by Ian Worrel.

I can see now that in both animations this guy is really wonderful at creating suspense and unexpectedness. I really like his backgrounds and the great animation.
I thought his student animation could have done with a few more inbetweens because it was quite choppy in some places. But he seems to have made it his style. The story certainly seems very important and I agree it is a well timed and textured short film.
